About 1.jpg

Three ring wellness, came from the concept of my tattoo which has each of the rings represent a specific a different phase. The first ring is “see it” in which you see your obstacle, the second is “work through it” which is self-explanatory, and the third is “Overcome” meaning you have worked through the problem. I am a veteran with PTSD, and I am not alone. PTSD affects about 6 out of every 100 people (or 6% of the US population) and continues to climb. When I came back from Afghanistan in 2012 I couldn’t wait to get back home, I knew something wasn’t right with me, but I didn’t want to say anything because I thought if I did they would keep me longer or maybe even boot me out of the Army. I went to seek a little treatment after I got home but didn’t do it for long. I decided to go to school to be a health and wellness coach, but I didn’t pursue the field as I decided to be an N.C.O. so I can be a leader of soldiers. As years went by the PTSD only got worse, I masked it with drinking, debauchery, and other risky behaviors. Eventually, I met Catia and I chilled out on some reckless behavior, but other symptoms would continue to grow. For years my sleep has been disrupted and I continuously have memories of the event, sometimes talking in my sleep, irritability, and other emotions. I decided it was time to seek treatment at the VA for these things and found out the waiting list was as long as the line for the first day showing of the Avengers (Yes, I’m a fan). According to the National Center for PTSD, approximately 7-8% of the US population will experience PTSD in their lifetime. This equals roughly 24.4 million people. Traditional therapy and medication may not be enough to help some individuals to overcome their symptoms, which is why wellness coaching can be a valuable additional to their treatment plan. Due to the increase in mental issues of isolation and the pandemic, healthcare workers were leaving in forces adding to the strain on an already stretched-thin healthcare system. The process is long and painful. People need help now and not later because it may be too late. I decided that I needed to do something, so I enrolled in a wellness course as things have changed since I first went down this path and start to help people. The goal of three-ring wellness is to create a platform for all individuals who want help but do not know where to go. I want to start by offering individuals wellness coaching classes (for a fee of course) within my community and eventually branching out to the national level and maybe even globally. Through word of mouth and networking in my community and attending relevant events and conferences to network with potential clients and partners. As the website gains interest I plan to fill it with content through podcasts, videos, and more. Through a combination of personalized coaching, therapeutic approaches and holistic wellness practices I intend to support veterans and other individuals with PTSD in their journey towards improved mental, emotional, and physical well-being. By offering a range of services and partnering with revenant organizations, I hope to able to help a variety of people from all walks of life. Coaching services will be offered online and if needed in person. The services will be customized to each individual’s unique needs.
